Software installation question

I have installed Quickbooks 2006 onto my admin acct. but I cannot run it
from a limited user acct. Further research reveals that I need to create a
"power user" acct. I can't find any way to do this, and Dell wants $ up
front just to ask the question, whether they can answer it or not. I would
appreciate all help offered.

Assuming you are using XP...

Start | All Programs | Administrative Tools | Computer Management

System Tools | Local Users and Groups | Users

Open a User

Click on "Member Of" tab
Click "Add..." button

Click "Advanced..." button

Click "Find Now" button
Select "Power Users"
Click "OK" button

Click OK, OK, OK.....

They really buried it.

To add to what klunk has already told you, that procedure does
not apply to Windows XP Home Edition. The Power Users group
does not exist on an XP HE system. Also, the Local Users and
Groups MMC snap-in is not available in XP HE.

Just out of curiosity, why are you looking to Dell for
assistance on this instead of Intuit?

Good luck

Whoops, I mean I had already been through it with Intuit for an hour or so.
We were at the add user window, but for some reason they didn't know what to
do after that.

Does this mean that QB 2006 will not run on XP Home? Or am I jumping to
too many conclusions based on insufficient knowledge ;)

Quickbooks 2006 should run on an XP Home Edition system but it
will only run under an account that is a Computer
Administrator.

assistance on this instead of Intuit?
Probably because the user has a DELL COMPUTER.

Also if it is an OEM version of Quickbooks it is Dell
that provides the support.
