Software in add/remove programs list

I have microsoft.net framework 1.1 and microsoft.net
framework (english) v1.0.3705 software. I would like to
know what these are used for to determine if I need them
or not.

This is a part of the .NET Platform that Microsoft is shaping up for the future.

This was installed as part of the Service Pack. You will need it for the future applications. Best to keep them.
