I investigated that issue several months ago; I don't know if anything
changed with the production version of WD so you will have to verify my
earlier findings. Remove does just that; it removes the run key from the
registry (i.e., programs that start up via the run key will no longer start
when you logon to your account). Disable works almost like remove. The
difference is that Windows Defender remembers the original run key and you
can re-instate the run key so the program will start.
