Software doesn't allow "run as administrator" installation

I'm installing HP Drive and Software (HP Photosmart Premier) and it won't
install on Vista. I'm running the install with an Administrator account.
However, the install fails with the reason that the software cannot be
installed with "Run as Administrator". In other words, it thinks that I'm
not an administrator and that I'm choosing to run as administrator. How do I
get past this? Is there a way in Vista to make an Administrator look like a
real administrator?

Hi Tim,
Right click on the .exe file and click on "Run as administrator". This
elevates the
authority.

As I said before, this doesn't work. The error reads as follows:

"The software cannot be installed using the "Run as..." command. The
installation cannot continue until this is resolved.

Required Action: Click Cancel to exit this software installation. Log off
and then log on as a user with administrator privileges..."

I'm logged in as an Administrator and it gives me this error whether I
actually use "Run as Administrator" or not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having exactly the same problem. Vista (full release) would not allow me
to connect to my Lexmark X83, so I went out and bought an HP C5180. Tried
installing the s/w and get the same error message. Turned off firewall,
antivirus, UAC, everything. Right click & "Run as administrator", always the
same problem. I've even enabled the administrator account, logged on as
"Administrator" and tried to install. Still no joy. I believe Microsoft
have created a lot of problems with this release and they need to get them
sorted PDQ.
