Software Deployment

Hi,

The software deployed with GPO isn't being deployed. On XP it all works
fine, but something in Vista prevents it from working. In the eventvwr I
could an event saying: The Installation source for this product is not
available. Verify the source exists and that you can access it. (eventid 1085
/ source GroupPolicy). Is there anyone recognisees this problem and / or
has some ideas??

Hi Jerry,

Have you verified that users have unfettered access to the source and also
have read & execute privileges on the source folder?

Hi,

I have access to the source files when I use explore. Just to make sure I
changed the security and share settings on the folder containing the software
and added the pc and user. The eventvwr is giving errors id 101, 102 and 108.
I looked it up in eventid.net. Most hints are in the directions of the
machine is not waiting for the network. (I did set this policy) An other hint
is the machine doesn't have the right to access. But as you read above, this
is not the case. I remember some reading that Vista deals differently with
the GPO's, something of making connection in an earlier stadium. 'My memory
leaves me in the dark here :( I will try to look it up again.

Hi Jerry,

I'd bug it as well, there may be an issue with the policy not waiting for
the network connection to complete.
