software conflicts

I have down loaded the latest drivers fron Microsoft and hewlett packard to allow me to use my scanjet 3300C, there is some degree of conflict, the sftware will not work, it times out all the time, I cannot find any other patches to help, does Win XP Pro need yet another type of scanner, my last one would not work with Me now this new one will not work with XP, any ideas?

Having had similar problems with installing HP scanners, I recommend 1)
Uninstall the scanner. 2) Go to HP's website, downloading the XP version of
the driver, installing it FIRST and then plugging in the scanner.
