Please explain what you mean by "compatible." Also tell us why you are
thinking of doing this. What do you hope to gain from the change?

Also note that there is no such thing as an upgrade from a server
operating system to a workstation one. If you want to change to Vista,
you'll have to clean install it, not upgrade.

The windows xp is on the desktop machines that are connected with a machine
with server 2000 installed. We have a number of machines with Windows Media
Center edition that we want to be able to connect to the network and you
can't join a domain with them wo we were going to upgrade them to the vista
ultimate. I just want to make sure it will not conflict with the server
which is running server 2000. We want all the options that Media Center
edition offers but still be able to join the domain with the desktop machines.

If you do a google search, with some setting changes you can get Media
Center to add to a domain(sort of hack). Also, if your installing Media
Center (assuming XP MCE 2005), you can add it to a domain durning the
install.
