SOCKET A Board 'extra power connector'

I have a socket A board that has an extra power connector, for, as the mobo
book
states, CPU Vcore power.
I thought this was used only for Intel CPU's.
Do I need to connect the 4 pin connector from the PSU or not??

Some AMD motherboards do use the four wire 12V P4 connector.
