so many slots, so little time!

I don't know where this post really belongs. I have a
wonderful Toshiba 3505 tablet/laptop (1.33 GHZ p3 XP-Pro)
with PCMCIA, CF, and SD slots. Are these just different
physical forms of the same basic serial port? I can buy
(for instance) a bluetooth card in any of the three
flavors; how do I choose? Lots of SD and CF stuff appears
to be for PDAs - is this intended to be exclusive of
laptops or just accidental, in that not many laptops have
these small slots?
I welcome all suggestions as to where to look for this
info, even if nobody here knows anything! (Toshiba
maintains a technical forum on Compuserve in lieu of
answering any questions themselves, and they didn't

PCMICIA allows you to add more components than just serial ports. You can
add modems, CD drives, SCSI interfaces, USB ports, Firewire port etc........

CF stands for "Compact Flash". This is a small computer card which you use
to store files on (usually digital photos). Uses media with CF designation.

SD is another type of storage, like the CF. Uses media with SD
designation.

What do you think this is ??? Call it a news group or a
forum the result is the same, a place to cut costs. MS
would drop it in a minute if they could not get people to
come on here for free and help their customer service
problem. They created it for that very reason. They
created the MVP.ORG so they could give some a big shot
feeling with some inatials behind their name.

I sure don't get it... the guy who originally answered me
chose to flame off about something totally not relevant
to my concerns, then you called him on it, then he quoted
the part where I was just explaining why I was posting
here, and that I would even welcome just further
direction on where to go, and I still got neither advice
nor direction. Sorry I asked....

I think the first 'anonymous@...' was referring to Microsoft's recruitment
of unpaid people (MSMVP's etc.) to handle Q&A's for them thus saving
themselves a bucketload of dosh.

Also the 1st 'anonymous@...' was probably not the same as the 2nd
'anonymous@...', if you see what I mean.

What I didn't get was that he was saying that this forum is basically
the same as the Toshiba forum on Compuserve and replies you get here are
not Microsoft replyinh to you any more than the replies you get in the
Toshiba forums are from Toshiba, they are from other users, like
yourself. That's what he meant by "What do you think THIS is?" meaning
THIS forum.
