SMS Advanced Client Installation gives misleading MSI error

CCMSETUP.LOG shows the following error message:
Error 1711. An error occurred while writing installation information to
disk.

From what I see on the error message, it is an MSI error indicating that
there is not enough freespace to complete the installation. However, I have
over 3 GB free. Anyone have a clue what causes this error?

Shawn,

Check the system drive. SOme MSI files write tempy data to SYSVOL.
