SMS Add-on

Mike

I keep getting an error message when trying to send a SMS message via my
Bluetooth Nokia.

The message is "The phone number format passed-in is invalid". I have tried
every combination of numbers, parens, dashes, etc that I can think of. I'm
thinking the error message is not relevant to the problem.

Have you tried a ten digit number format followed by a space then a seried of
alpha characters (which represent a telephone service subscriber name); viz.,
1234567890 First LastName. This worked for me without errors but did not
deliver the message to the intended recipient. The return message said that
the service did not like the recipient or could not be sent. I have also
tried reversing this format: <First LastName><space><four digit area
Code><seven digit telephone number>. I have also used my cell phone service
e-mail address format: (e-mail address removed). None of the latter
worked at all in the "To" address box in the Outlook Plugin.
Please feel free to add your comments. Thank you.

I would rather use Irda than Bluetooth

make sure the phone is connected before using using SMS plug in

Does infrared work just as well as Bluetooth. I think there are too many
limitations on infrared transfers even though my Sony Ericsson cellphone is
infrared ready. I don't have a transmitter on my desktop though so the phone
port isn't useful. I think it would probably not reduce battery life by very
much but I think its usefulness is very limited given the lack of Outlook
plugins that allow transfers to a cellphone (particularly, contact
information).

Hi.
I just tried two new input formats that I thought I had tried before but
this time I unchecked the send the messages in Unicode format. They were not
delivered even though the messages returned no errors. The server send and
receive using SBC DSL and Cingular Wireless/Virgin Mobile (from California)
seemed to have occurred instantaneously. I received an undeliverable receipt
instantaneously too. I still don't understand what the problem could be.
I hope this has helped you.
