smil format audio and video clips

I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to insert SMIL format audio and
video clips into Microsoft PowerPoint. When I try to, the error message says,
"Cannot insert sound from the selected file." I know SMIL is a Real/Quicktime
format, but I'd hoped there was a way around that so these files can be
embedded in a PowerPoint. Is there any way to convert a SMIL file to
something else that'll work (mp3, WMX, whatever)?

You might want to try the addon Plays for Certain. This might solve your

Not without converting it to something else I'm afraid. QT is proprietary
to Apple and is not licensed to MS for use in PowerPoint. (Competition and
all that.)
