I created a document in Word for Office xp and saved it
as a .htm document. I loaded this document to my secure
web site as it's own page and when I accessed the page,
IE6.0 told me that there were both secure and non-secure
items on the page. I clicked yes to view both and
attempted to print the page. Nothing printed! The page
wasn't even spooled. No error message was generated.
After a frustrating hour of research, I noticed that Word
XP uses Smart Tags. I turned off Smart Tags and reloaded
the same document, this time with no smart tags. Voila! I
was able to view the document in IE6.0 with no security
conflict and the document printed.
I also viewed and printed the document, with and without
smart tags, using Netscape Navigator 7.0 and experienced
no problems.
My questions are these. Why does Word XP use Smart Tags
and IE 6.0 not support them? How can I print a web page
in IE 6.0 that includes Smart Tags.
Thank you for your time.
