smart tags in Excel 2002

Working my way through "Microsoft Excel 2002 Step by Step." Now attempting
"Acquiring Web Data with Smart Tags" in Chapter 15, "Publishing Information
on the Web."

There are no smart tags in the test spreadsheet, "Smart.xls," although book
says there are. No Recognizers (smart tags known to Excel), either, although
book says there are.

In Office XP Professional with FrontPage, I had already installed
*everything*, and a check of what's installed says all the smart tag support
should be there.

I have turned on smart tags in Tools > Autocorrect Options > Smart Tags >
Label Data with Smart Tags.

But nada. Rien. Zilch.

Can anyone help?
