SmarLink soft modem

I have a SmartLink soft modem installed in my Fujitsu Siemens laptop (Amilo D
7850). I have attempted to find up-to-date drivers for it, but with no
success. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly
appreciated. I am trying to update the driver because, each time I connect
to the internet, windows slows down tremendously. My programs stop
responding and I cannot launch any programs. Eventually windows rights
itself, though. Does anyone have any help for this problem?

If your Windows slows down, for no apparent reason (Internet should not cause
this), you should be checking for spywares/malwares on your laptop.

Also, you need to note that since this is a soft modem, all the modem controls
are in Windows and not on the modem hardware. This will use RAM memory of the
laptop during the Internet session. How much RAM is in the laptop?

Thank you, unfortunately that isn't it. I have 1GB or RAM, that should be
enough for anything. I have already downloaded Windows Defender to protect
against spyware, etc. as that was my first suspect. None of this has helped
though.
