Small green/red squares flash periodically during clip playback

I've imported digital video from a Cannon Elura 65 to Windows Movie Maker.
When I watch the video in Media Player or on the camera, all is fine.
However, when playing individual clips in Movie Maker, 5 or 6 small green and
red squares flash periodically on the screen. This does not happen on all of
the clips. The flash of squares always appears in the same clips at the same
time (its not random). I tried deleteing the files and re-downloading the
video and the problem occurs in the same exact spots as before. Whats going
on?--

What file type did you capture as, avi/wmv/other?
Have you tried making a small movie from the aprt which gives trouble and
savin as an avi and watching this in WMP? If so what is the result? If not,
please do and report back?
