no big deal at all, i just noticed it one day, and
thought id let you fellas know incase u make the same
mistake in longhorn (doubtful). but the newsgroups seemd
to be the only way i could tell ms instead of going
through a extremely long process.....

copy this text
http://whamm.bam.whoom.whap/heh/pfft.aspx

so with this crazy text, create a new txt document and
try to paste this text as the name of the file - you
should get a error saying it wont work, blah, blah, blah -
and so forth, now just press escape and keep the default
name
inside the actual text document, re-paste the url copied
before, you should now notice that its not what you
copied originally, it is missing the /'s

no big deal like i said, i just found it ammusing at the
time :P

I don't think its a bug at all. It looks to me that windows is just to smart
on this one. It knows that / is not a valid character in name of a file so
in order to help you out so you can paste the name in, it deletes the
slashes for you on the info right in the clipboard, then allows you to paste
it. If I was putting urls in as names of files all the time, then I would
want it to work just as it does. Remove the slashes for me cause they don't
work in a file name.
Other than pasting this text into a file name(which isn't allowed on windows
cause of the slashes), copy and paste of the text works fine. It doesn't
look like a bug to me at all, it's just trying to help you out cause your
doing something that isn't allowed on windows.
