slowdown after installing updates

I just replaced my HD and installed Win XP. it ran fine
with all of my other programs. After scanning for, and
installing all of the recommended updates, my computer is
running very slow. I am running a Pentium 4, 1500 mhz,
384Mb ram, 60 GB HD, and DSL. What Happened and how do I
cure it?

Did you install a bunch of updates at once? If so, you might try restoring
your computer back to a date before the updates, if possible. Then install
them one at a time to try to determine which update caused the problem. If
you can determine which one it is then you can determine if you really need
the update. Especially if it isn't a security patch.
