Slow when opening drop down box to see network drives

My XP is so slow when I click on the drop down box to
save. I have no performance issues with my computer. I'ts
just when I try to save by clicking on the drop down box,
it takes a very long time to show me the network drives.
I changed the NIC settings to match the network speed but
still same issue exists. Please Help.
