slow startup/log on

Patrick

Hello,

We have an Windows 2000 server (SP4) and Windows 2000
proffesional workstations (SP4).
What can be the cause that to log on the server is very
slow and takes some minutes. When the logging is Ok,
everything works fine.

Is there something to locate the problem?

Best regards,

Patrick

Pointing the clients to any DNS server except the DNS server set up for AD
will cause this. Usually it is because the clients are pointed to the ISP's
DNS server.

Basically you need to point the DNS server to itself in the properties of
TCP/IP for DNS. Point all clients to the AD DNS server ONLY. For Internet
resolution configure your AD DNS server to forward requests and list your
ISP's DNS server as the forwarder.
