Do you have DSL or Cable that has a dynamic(always changing) IP?
If you have DSL/Cable and a dynamic IP, perhaps you have your 'real' adapter
and then the PPOE adapter in your network connections folder. For the real
adapter set a IP Address like 192.168.0.1 and a subnet of 255.255.255.0 and
then reboot. It wont affect your internet connection but it will save you
the time of windows trying to assign a IP address to your adapter...thus
perhaps the 90 second wait.. I had same problem. Windows is too slow to
figure out assigning IP's unfortunately.

My new HP with XP Home edition takes at least 1 1/2 minutes to start up.
the only things checked in the System Configuration Utility Startup are
KBD,ccApp,PCHbutton, Norton System Doctor and WKCALREM. At 2.6g I think I
should start faster. Any hints?
