I recently installed Windows XP and immediately I noticed that when scrolling
it is very jerky. But not only this but when I move windows around this is
also really slow. I've checked the smooth scrolling box and I've even tried
changing the visual aspects for best performance and it still happens. I've
got a Pentium 4 and 514 MB of ram. It's also a laptop. Any suggestions?

did you install your drivers for your video card? sounds like you didn't.
even if you did, i reccommend re-installing them.

windows XP uses generic video drivers. these drivers are meant for no other
purpose, but to serve on a temporary basis until you install the proper
ones. they are by no means the best drivers, and they have been known to
cause the problems you are experiencing at the moment.

any other ideas, guys?
