Slow running

I have had my computer for 2 years and do the regular
checks, diskfragmenter, clean disk, etc. For some reason
it has started to run slow when opening programs such as
Outlook Express. I have scanned the hard drive for viruses
and there's no problem there. Do i need to clean the
registry? if so is there an idiot proof reg-cleaner that
can be used?, or could the problem be something else. Can
anyone help?.

Do you use Messenger? If so, hiding your Outlook Express Contacts pane
(click View|Layout and un-check it) can speed up OE's launch dramatically,
in my experience. More info on OE slowness:

try going to control panel,internet options,and clear

your history ,and delete files

stop defragging. its pretty worthless unless you are
transfering large amounts of data back and forth between
comps.
