slow response

recently my computer starting to exhibit a slow response
to any action. Sometimes the pointer disappears, most
times the hourglass appears for tens of seconds. Upon
looking at the processes running I see a "System" process
consuming 50+ of the CPU. Any ideas?

can safely shutoff services you dont need,,example: wireless service running
and you have no wireless adapter, he was featured on MSN WINXP for some time,
I had a chance to chat with him, he has fixed many computers with virsuses
and worms

Run these programs to check for spyware/malware. After installing
update them, then boot into safe mode and run them. You should update
and run them weekly.
