Slow Response While Designing a Form with Linked Tables

Hello, I have a database where I am linking to external Excel files for
tables. When building my reports every change I make takes about 20 seconds
before I am able to continue to working. This is only occurring in this
database with the linked tables.

Any ideas what could be causing this and how I might be able to fix it?

I figured it out. I just removed the record source from the report
properties while I made my changes and then added it back before saving.
Saved loads of time, but it still takes ages to save at the end.

Just wanted to post in case anyone else was having a similar situation.
