SLOW response time with XP

Ever since upgrading from ME to XP, my system is
interminably slow! I wait several minutes between tasks,
(opening email, switching users etc.) Any ideas?

If your computer originally shipped with Windows ME, and you have not
significantly upgraded your hardware, you will find that Windows XP runs
very slowly on your computer.

How much RAM do you have installed? In order to have
decent (yes, decent) response time, I'd recomend at least
256 MB. Any processor over 600 MHz should be alright.
