slow resart

Every time I want to turn off or restart my computer, since I click Start
button, it takes about to 6 minutes, to the window:
<<Standby-Turnoff-Restart>> to show up.
Please, what could I do to correct this?

This could be caused by having too many programs running at shutdown.

Please be aware that this problem is most often caused by malware, so
ensure that you have a full-featured current version (not earlier than
2004) antivirus installed with updated virus definitions. It would also
be wise to scan for non-viral malware with programs such as the free
Ad-aware (v. 1.06) and Spybot Search & Destroy (v. 1.4). Update those
programs before running the scans.

If you can get TASK MANAGER to come up (ctrl + alt + del), I wnder what is
executing when it should be shutting down? Click on the processes tab and
then the CPU column to where the busy processes are on top. Who's at the
top of the list when it should be shutting down?
