this has been happening for months now but i've been ignoring it.
However, i can't take it anymore....
about May this year i moved my computer off a small network and im now
trying to make it be a stand alone computer, however it doesnt like
doing this.
When i disconnected my computer from the netwrok, i did a rudimentary
job of telling it i had done so and that i should try and fend for
itself. I took it off the domain and removed all of the network drives.
The problem is that everytime i start an application, any application,
i get a freeze, usually only around 5 seconds, but still definitely a
freeze. My system is far from hopeless and it never used to do this so
i'm thinking its not a harkware problem. I'v got a hunch that its got
somthing to do with comp still looking around for a DNS but i cant be
sure, its just that when i fiddle with the settings for ip address and
stuff things seem to work ok for about 30 seconds before
regressing.....
anyone any ideas?
