Slow performance

Rick

I recently installed Windows XP on an older laptop that
had ME on it. It is sooooo slow now and I was told to
install Windows 2000 that that would help. I tried
installing 2000 and got an error mesaage basically telling
me I couldn't install an older version over a newer
version. Can I install 2000 without re-formatting the hard
drive?
Thanks for any comments.

No, you'll have to reformat the hard drive before installing
Windows 2000.
