bloody heck thats a long list

okay disconnect from the internet go into task manager and then into processes then have a look at the CPU % thing
do u notice anything with a really high value?

hope so in a way, end this task immediately
tell us all what the name of this thing is..

when ur problem happens to me MSN messenger comes up with 95% CPU usage then when i end task my folders open up normally a lot faster too!

okay explorer is the main interface of windows.

have u tried to end this task, then click on run and type back in explorer.exe this will rerun this.

my friend had a similar problem so every time he started windows it would take so long so he had to manually do this everytime he wanted to use the pc and get into the start menu!

Process Name : explorer

File Name : explorer.exe

Description: Starts Windows Explorer. Unless this has been manually added to startups or added by another program it could be a virus such as PE\_BISTRO or DVLDR or MYDOOM.C. Note that it is also not the explorer.exe task/service you`ll see when via CTRL+ALT+DEL
