slow loading of user setting

My startup is very slow. It takes a long time to load
user settings. Any suggestions?

Try disabling the Terminal Services service in the Services applet.
If that doesn't make any difference, try a google search on this
newsgroup to look for links about xp being slow to boot and shutdown.
I tried a number of the suggested fixes and one of them worked - but
I'm not sure which one! I had to cold boot a couple of times before
logging in went back to normal.
