slow loading explorer

Judy

I have Windows XP. When I open my windows Explorer, then
a folder on my harddrive, it takes forever, up to 5
minutes for about 25 files in a particular folder to
load, so I can look at them. It is very frustrating, and
I hope someone has some suggestions or fixes.
Please e-mail me privately at the above address. But
please do NOT send along any pictures or attachments, as
I will not open those.
I hope to hear from someone soon.
Thanks so much.

It may be that your folder settings can be tweked to allow for this to be
faster.

In Explorer
Click on Tools>Folder Options
Select the View Tab

Under the section Advanced Settings, try changing some of the settings to
see if this speeds things up.
1. Make sure 'Display simple folder view in Explorer's Folders list' is
ticked or checked
2. Make sure 'Do not cache thumbnails' is not ticked or checked - this helps
if there are pictures when opening after the first time

Depending on what the contents of the folder are, you may find that there
are other items that you can change settings on will give you a boost in
response time. This of course depends on your system and if you are on a
network.

Hope this helps
