Slow Internet Explorer Startup

When I start Internet explorer (on XP SP2), there is a long delay before the
actual IE window appears - sometimes up to 1 minute. Once the window (and
web page) is there, performance of web browsing seems to be fine. The
problem appears to be related to simply startup of IE - some kind of network
initialization in IE is my suspicion, but I can't isolate.

I do have other machines in my home network that startup IE fine, so it
appears to be limited to this one machine. I think this also ensures the
router & cable modem are working fine.

Comments to help isolate are appreciated.

This is solved in another thread titled:

IE 6.0.2900 - Slow Starting

Issue is related to 3rd party add-ons in IE. I turn them off using:

Internet Options, Advance, Enable third-party browser extensions (uncheck
this).

If further isolation is desired, go to:

Internet Options, Programs, Manage Add-ons, and enable/disable programs
until the culprit is found.
