Slow Internet Access after Win 2000 Upgrade

M

mjzkaplan

I upgraded from Win98 to Win2000 Professional and
downloaded Int Exp 6.0.

I have a 256 Pentium, with 40GB HD, which should be
enough to support Win Prof.

BUT, accessing the Internet via cable modem is non
existent.

I know I have Int access via my laptop, but this desktop
cannot get to the Internet.

Any ideas?

Is the modem communicating with your computer? Check this
via Start->Settings->Control Panel->System->Hardware-
Device Manager and search for anything under 'Unknown
Devices'. If this shows nothing, than find your cable
modem and check its properties and settings.

Windows usually will not upgrade smoothly. The best way to
change your OS is to backup your data, format the drive,
and perform a clean install. If you cannot resolve this
issue, try performing a clean install. Chances are your
problem will be resolved.
