Slow file opening

O

Ozan KÖKSAL

Hi,

I cannot open files with double clicking properly. When I double click a
file (txt, xls, doc, etc...) system waits about 30 seconds then file opens.
If I open application and then call the file from "File/Open" there is no
problem, file opens quickly. Also I determined that if I unplugged the
network cable everything get well, no problems with unplugged network cable.

Windows XP Pro SP1 EN (Joining to a domain.)

There is no delay on right mouse click, this is not a context menu problem I
think.

I have a workaround: I disabled "DHCP Client" service, then give a static
IP, now I have no problem, everything is OK, but I want to resolve this
problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks & Regards

Ozman

I have the same exact probles you describe on my computer attached to my
wireless network. Disabling the network adapter solves the issue, but it is
frustrating to have to enable/disable all the time. Unlike you, this is also
a problem when I right click my mouse on some shortcuts (such as documents or
jpegs) but not others (such as shortcuts to programs). My other computers on
my network do not have this issue. I am running Windows XP Home with SP2 and
all updates.

Dell suggested I update my network adapter driver which did not help. A
replacement adapter did not help. They suggested re-installing Windows, and
that should "solve all of my problems." I really don't want to do that. I
have no virus/spyware issues.

Let me know if you have a solution.

Best wishes,

Howard
