my email is extreemly slow downloading, it goes to connecting then hangs on
authourising for about 5 mins, when it says recieving each message takes
about 5 mins to download, any ideas ?

Can you give us specifics on which email client are you using, or is it a
webmail based? Are you receiving emails that has huge amount of attachments?

Let us know more info so we can help you further...

GLuck!

i am using outlook express on POP3 - SMTP blueyonder.co.uk. there are no
large messages or attachments downloading , when or if they get through they
only consist of a couple of lines

Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional protection and even Symantec says it's not necessary:

<paste>
Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that
are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans
incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and
email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To
make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep
Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have
the most recent virus definitions.

Did you call and ask them? How long before someone called them to ask?
Do you want them to notify you every time something on the internet
burps? Be careful of what you demand! You may just get what you asked for!

I have a similar problem

If I have say 16 e mails to receive the first 4 will come out just like that
and then the next one will take 10 minutes to come out regardless of how big
it is. The next 10 or 11 messages will then come out OK

I wish an expert from Outlook would answer a question or there could be
someway of sending an e mail to a proper expert but there does not seem to be
a help e mail address

The Outlook experts are in the Outlook newsgroups.
