Slow dial-up internet in XP Pro

I have just done a fresh install of XP Pro & also
installed SP1.
My dial-up internet connects with the ISP with no
problems, however, once connected it takes ages for pages
to load (5 to 10 mins) & sometimes totally locking up.
The dial up status box shows a high number of incoming
errors.
The first time I connected there was a message that said
something about "winsock settings have changed"?
I have tried connecting on our old system running XP Home
& have not had any trouble, which obviously rules out any
problems with the ISP.
Hope someone can help me work this out as it is very
frustrating.

I had the same problem
I asked around but could not get an answer.
So I thought I might try a repair install.
It worked.
I hope that this is of some help.
