Slow browsing and other network difficulties

I have been on vista RTM for about a week and have had multiple problems
browsing the web. It works getting to the first page but when you go deeper
into the site then it seems to slow down. Along with Browsing issues I am
having difficulty with e-mail and newsgroups. occasionally while downloading
e-mail or newsgroups it times out and says not network connectivity. However
I can run a continuous ping to outside addresses while this is happening.

I have turned off windows live onecare firewall and the Microsoft firewall.
Plus disable the protected mode in i.e which helped some. (now I can get to
most pages on a site but still very slow)

This is a new load of Vista complete format and fresh install. I have office
2007 running. Any idea's would be appreciated.

Are you running any other computers with Windows XP? IF you are, do you experience the same slowness with your Internet connection with your Windows XP computer?

While I have not had this exact problem you may want to try this procedure
that I found in another group. It solved my problem with Messenger on Vista.
Apparently Vista's "auto-tuning" networking feature doesn't play nice with
some routers. Not sure if it is a bug in Vista, or a bug in the router
firmware. If you google "autotuninglevel" you'll find a lot of info about
this feature and that it has caused problems that sound very similar to what
you describe.

Try this:
- Click start
- Type: cmd
- Right-click cmd.exe when it appears under Applications
- Click Run As Administrator
- Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
- Press enter
- Restart your computer

David

Try making adjustments in your network properties. Perhaps that might help. Perhaps the problem is a driver issue.

Hi Mitch,

I replied earlier today but for whatever reason now I don't see my post on
the server so maybe you didn't see it either.
Anyway here is a recap, and I think this is something you should definitely
try:
