Slow Boot

I am trying to troubleshoot a slow boot on Dell Latitude D410, WinXP SP2, NIS
2007.

Using task manager to watch the processes on boot, I see two wuauclt.exe,
and six svchost.exe (one of which is taking 90+% of CPU at times). Is this
normal?

The boot completes afetr about 5 or six minutes.

I would check your processes again and make sure that the svchost.exe
process is spelled correctly for each instance.
Having six is not abnormal. But having 90% CPU on one of them is. Take a
look here for more info

Try using a good spyware detector such as Spyware Sweeper, Spyware
Doctor and Spybot Search and Destroy which is
free.

Many thanks for the reply. All svchost are spelt correctly, as is wuauclt. I
am running NIS 2007 fully updated and with a weekly scan, and no problems are
being reported. I will try anti-spyware and report back.
