Slow boot up at loading computer settings

Bryan Curtis

One of my clients has a Lattitude 600c. When it boots up
it takes about 2 minutes to load computer settings. The
thing only has win2k. Office xp and adobe 5.1 loaded on it.
Any ideas on why this takes so long to load computer
settings.

Bryan,
I used to have a Dell Lattitude as well with win2k
on it, but had a whole slew of apps loaded on it. I work
on a development team, so I had a lot of stuff loaded.
My laptop as well took quite awhile to load, sometimes
upwards of 5 minutes. I tried a few things, but was
unable to get it to boot up any quicker. One thing I
would do is disable some of the things in your sys tray
and in your startup tab. This will stop the starup of
these apps, which should increase your systems response
time.
