Slow backup with Backup Exec 10D

Greg

Okay, so I just installed a new Dell Powervault 124T with LTO-2
autoloader. Got it all hooked up and installed the new Backup Exec 10d.
Loaded the magazine up with tapes and off I go. I did a backup-to-disk
of my exchange server. Took about 3 hours to produce a 33 gig backup.
Great! Okay, so let's backup the backup as a test. I started the backup
to tape on Friday at 10 am. Now, 50 hours later, the backup is still
chugging along, having backed up just 11 gigs.

Obviously, something is wrong here. Where to begin?!

Take a look at the LTO3 Recommendation thread I started. You may want
determine if "shoe-shining" issues are in play here. Apparently the
tape drive needs to be fed information at a speed close to its data
transfer rate.
