How can I update from xp pro (with slipstreamed rtm sp3) to the release sp3?

I can't see how to uninstall the rtm sp3.

Thanks,

Ben

Hello Ben,

You can not uninstall a slipstreamed SP, no old data availble to go backwards.
Think you have to build the slipstream again. If this is a productive machine,
well all RC's and test version should always run on test machines.

If you installed XP SP3 release candidate using an integrated cd then you
did not install SP3 RC. You installed an operating system that was at
service pack level three, release candidate. You therefore have no SP3 RC
to remove that is separate from the OS itself.

If you made an image backup of your system before working with the SP3 RC
then simply restore the image and proceed.

If you want XP service pack level three rtm on your computer you need to
create a new slipstreamed cd integrating XP and SP3 rtm and clean reinstall
Windows with it.

If you just want XP SP3 rtm on your computer, restore an image backup or
clean reinstall XP SP2 and then upgrade to SP3 via WU.

If what you currently have is rtm SP3, that *is* the release version
(rtm means *Released" to Manufacturing) and there's no update
required.

On the other hand, if what you actually have is an RC (Release
Candidate) version, you now need the rtm version instead. To get
there, you need to uninstall the RC SP3 first. However if you
installed it from a slipstreamed CD, it's not possible to uninstall
it, and you'll either need to restore from an image backup, if you
have one, or else reinstall Windows cleanly.
