Hi everyone,

I notice that when I "log off" my computer and then log back on, my Norton
Firewall will briefly appear with a red "x" over it in the taskbar before
the program becomes enabled. I have a cable connection and the red "x"
leads me to believe that the Firewall is disabled when the computer is on
and no user is logged on. Is my computer at risk if it's on, but no user is
logged on and the firewall is down? Thanks, I hope thats clear!

Hi Paul,

Most Firewall applications run as a service and also have an user interface.
When you logoff, the UI closes down but the Service remains ON. Make sure if
the service is currently enabled and running. click Start | Run |
Services.msc. Check the appropriate services entry for NIS. If it is
running, it means your PC is safe.
