Sleep

For some reason, every so often my computer will not go into 'sleep' mode,
and will simply dim as if going into sleep and then immediately power up
again for no apparent reason. The problem seems to be solved if I resatart
the computer but then a few days later the problem may return again. Any
suggestions?

The most ocmmon reason for this problem is corrupted video drivers. Download
the latest version from the manufacturer of your graphics chipset (ATI,
nVidia, Intel, etc)

Then uninstall the current drivers, reboot (cancel out of the new hardware
wizard) and double click on the newly downloaded drivers to install them.

FWIW - this didn't fix the issue on my wife's Intel mobo - I'm still trying
to find a cure for it (and I suspect it's an Intel driver that's not
completely compatible with Vista (this was a machine that originally had RC1
installed on it).
