Squibbly

for some reason when i ever i use the sleep function, yes my mobo does
support acpi, doesnt wake up, i have tried to press the power button, but to
no avail, the only way out of it is to switch off via the psu switch at the
back, and even then it doesnt do that properly

Not all motherboards handle sleep well even though they are suppose to be
ACPI conpliant. I had four computers with NForce 2 chipset motherboards, two
from Biostar and two from MSI. The Biostar motherboards would not wake up
like your computer and the MSI boards fuctioned fine. The computer were
nearly identical otherwise. So maybe you have a bad mobo.
