Sleep Mode loses Cable connection

When I put my Win XP pro into the sleep mode, some of the time it works fine
when I wake it up.

However, sometimes, when I wake it up it loses the cable connection, making
it necessary to reboot.

Rather than reboot, is there any easier way I can use to reestablish my
cable connection?

Is there a setting that will prevent losing the cable connection?

Thanks

Most cable DSL connections take a short period of time to completely
syncronize and establish the connection. When your machine enters
sleep mode it's as if you turned it off as far as the connection is
concerned.

My connection doesn't require a reboot when my notebook wakes up from
sleep mode but it does take around 15 to 30 seconds or so to come back
up. It depends a lot on your cable company and the type of modem they
have given you to use. If you have an older cable modem (older
Toshiba model for example) you may want to take a trip to their
service office and exchange it for a newer model. That may or may
not help.
