sleep mode crashes computer

My computer suddenly stopped allowing me to wake it up from sleep mode.
(Dell 8200, xp pro). It appears to go into sleep mode and then needs to be
manually shut down (holding the power button for 5 seconds) and then started
up.
--I have checked the bios and the power settings in control panel and all
seems ok.
??Something weird happen in the registry???

Thanks for any ideas. Sleep mode is such a great convenience.

Did you check keyboard and mouse settings to see if they were set to allow
them to exit sleep mode?

It was working before and nothing has changed. Also, I can't find those
settings you mention in the control panel mouse or keyboard panels. Where
are they?

Was this problem ever resolved? Mine is doing the exact same thing and I've checked the mouse, keyboard, and the pc power options. I still do not know why it is going to sleep and not waking up. Can someone please help?
