Skype alerts

Is there any way to have an alert, if someone's called me but I've been away
from my PC, so that I can see.

Often people call when I'm away, and its only when I open the Skype software
that I can see this.

I don't think there is anyway around opening skype unless you use the
call forward function.

Skype proposes a voicemail function (not free) which works computer off or
there are freeware systems to be found on their site if you leave your
machine running 24/7.

Try getting Call Wave http://www.callwave.com/landing/corp_wam.asp
it keeps all records of calls that have come in like an answering machine,
very cheap too.
