Size of the screen

I have a new laptop and I cant figure out how to change the size of the
screen. I dont want to change the size of the icons. I have about one inch
of black space all around. I am sure its something really simple
but....could someone help me?
 
Usually there are manual controls to adjust the screen size (OSD). It
depends on the brand/model.
Check your owners manual.

Make and model?

On some it is a BIOS setting, on others a key combination.
