I was told to take the web pages out of the folder I have them in so it would
publish. Where do I put them and how do I do that?

Your web pages should be in a Web/Site, a folder with a blue globe on it.
Does your server have FP extensions installed on it?

Yes there is a picuture of the globe beside the home page and yes, the server
accepts Front Page. I do not have the folder named the same as the site
(with the .com). Would that allow it so publish or do I need to take them
out of the folder I have the pages in and try to publish them that way. If
so, how do I keep track of the pages?

1. Create a new folder on your HD, DO Not add .com, etc. to the folder name.

2. Copy via Windows Explorer all of your web files from the other folder, except the _vti folders
(if any) in to this new folder.

3. Open FP and browse to this new folder, when prompted allow FP to make it a web / site.

4. Then re-build your navigation structure, etc.

I copied the files to "my documents" and opened the index in FP but it did
not promplt me to make it a web / site (I have Front Page 2003). It would
not allow me to publish it but it did allow me to preview it in the browser.
I didn't have to rebuild the navigation system. It worked in the "preview in
browser" mode. What did I not do correctly?

The should be in a folder with blue globe...that signifies it is a web.
It *doesn't* matter what you call it on your harddrive.

FP will take care of tracking stuff as long as you always Open Web/Site and work with files from within FP.

Follow what Thomas said.

You don't want to just put your files in My Document, you must place then in a folder, better yet,
open My Computer and create new folder, then place all of your web site files into this folder, then
open the folder in FP.
